At the moment two major mining operations, Anglo America and Northern Dynasty are proposing to develop an open-pit copper/gold mine at the heart of Bristol Bay, Alaska. The proposed mine would be the largest open-pit in America if not the world. This potential mine would be developed at the headwaters of the Nushagak and Kvichak rivers. The two most prolific rivers for returning sockeye salmon runs every year. To put a mine this big and of this type in a seismically active area, would be disastrous to not only the salmon, but to the the commercial fishery, the locals and the wildlife that survive around salmon. Please help the fight against the proposed Pebble Mine, and help preseve something that is more precious than gold.
